What's a good prompt for a critical reading of "The Hunger Games"?

I'm in college and am supposed to write a critical essay on a piece of popular fiction, applying modern theory. I'm thinking of doing a post-colonial and/or feminist reading of "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. Does anyone have a suggestion for what direction I could go in for the thesis? I'm kind of new to these types of papers, and writing a strong thesis is something I find difficult.
