After performing the photo electric effect experiment for a long time,what happens to the number of electrons?

It remains the same . The emitted electrons are continuously replaced from the surroundings. After losing even just a few electrons the metal would not be able to emitt any more because they would be attracted back by the excess positive charge. But the emitted electrons in fact are always replaced and so the metal can continuously send out electrons so long as the energy supply is maintained .
