Can i change a 250v to 125v electric outlet?

A 240 volt circuit is 2 120 volt circuits together. Remove the cover and you will have 2 hots and a neutral. Use one of the hots and the neutral. The hot wires should be black and the neutral should be white. Use a meter to be sure. Good Luck
