Can a bass guitar body be used to build a 6 string electric guitar?

i love the way bass bodies look and i play bass and guitar...and ive always wanted to know if it is possiable to build a bass body guitar.......ive seen rather cheap bass guitars at local pawn shops and was thinking of buying them and attempting to convert them into a 6 string guitar....with maybe p90s..
